NYS BURN BAN 3/16 - 5/14
The RAMS Program at the Locke Fire Department is a Junior Firefighter program for people ages 14–18 who are interested in the fire service. RAMs assist members in support roles at emergency scenes, trainings, and community events while learning safety, teamwork, and real-world fire department operations. The program provides hands-on experience in a structured and supportive environment.
Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) provide important pre-hospital medical care alongside the ambulance crew and other EMTs in the department. They assess patients, provide basic life-saving treatment, and help stabilize individuals during emergencies. Medical and rescue calls make up the majority of incidents that the LFD responds to, making EMTs a vital part of the department’s service to the community.
Firefighters are the first to respond to fires, rescues, and other emergencies in the community. They work to protect life and property by putting out fires, performing rescues, and handling emergency situations. Firefighters also take part in regular training, public education, and department activities to stay prepared and keep the community safe.
Fire Police members support emergency operations by managing traffic and scene safety at incidents, accidents, and public events. They help protect responders and the public by controlling traffic flow, securing scenes, and assisting the fire department with safe and organized operations.
Social Members support the fire department by assisting with events, fundraisers, and community activities. While they do not respond to emergency calls, they play an important role in strengthening the department through behind-the-scenes support, public engagement, and event coordination.
